Peter B. Golden

At the moment, I am working on a book on Medieval Eurasia (ca. 300-1200) that will deal with the interaction of the Turkic nomads with the Slavic world, the Caucasus, the Finno-Ugric peoples of the Forest zone and more distantly with the Middle East. I am also writing a chapter "Jewish Khazars in the Written Sources" for a multi-volume work that will be published in Russian and Hebrew. In addition, I will be contributing several chapters to the Cambridge History of Inner Asia : The Chinggisid Era. I am one of the volume's editors, along with Nicola Di Cosmo and Allen Frank. There are several other issues with which I am still  much occupied, including the question of Turk origins and the shaping of the Turkic peoples. A chapter dealing with those issues will appear in Contact and Exchange in the Ancient World , ed. Victor Mair (University of Hawaii Press) which is now in press.
